Border Measures

Peruvian regulations allow a trademark owner to record before Customs the trademarks said owner has registered in Peru.  For such purpose, the owner will file before such Authority copies of the certificates of registration so that if products are imported under such marks, Customs will alert the local representatives of such import intention in order that the appropriate infringement action can be initiated.  While this registration before Customs does not need to indicate the source of the original goods and the name of the only authorized importer, we suggest this is done, if possible, so that Customs acts against the unauthorized importers. This is an annual registration and must be renewed within the first 30 days of each year in accordance to our regulations.
